Bosham RNLI

As part of the Chichester Branch of the RNLI, Bosham contributes to this Charity in two ways:- Each year there is a door to door collection organised by Rosemary Grindle (Tel 573215) and her helpers.
  
The annual Bring and Buy Sale /Coffee morning this year is on Wednesday 1st May where a number of stalls will be set up covering a wide variety of items, from chandlery to home-made cakes and a huge range of books. There will also be a raffle with excellent prizes.
  
On Wednesday 2nd October 2024 there is a Sale of Christmas Cards and RNLI Souvenirs/Coffee morning.  
  
The latter two events are held in the Bosham Sailing Club from 10:00am to 12:00 noon with the kind permission of the Commodore. Entry fee is 50p which includes a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits. Last year we made over £1300 at the May Sale and £1100 in the October Sale.

That every day it costs £274,000 to run the lifeboat service, and that every penny of which comes from voluntary contributions and legacies.

Over £400 to kit out each crewmember

An all-weather lifeboat cost £1,800,000

An inshore lifeboat costs £76,000

Raising the money

For every £1 spent, 80 pence is spent on maintaining and replacing the existing fleet 17 pence is used for fundraising and 3 pence for administration.

That there are over 1600 RNLI Support Branches nation-wide;Bosham is but one. Branches organise all sorts of fundraising events from flag days to barbecues and are always looking for support and ideas.

RNLI Fundraising takes a variety of approaches to appeal to everyone with an interest in raising money for the lifeboats.
